VMX File Builder
Written on May 13, 2007 by Sid
Downloaded and ran the ‘breezy badger’ ubuntu linux virtual machine, using the open source vmware player. i’m big into open source now… tell you more later. while the linux itself ran file (though i did need to fiddle with the x files to get my resolution higher than 640×480) it didn’t have any sound.
a short while back, while upgrading to the ‘fiesty fawn’ edition, i came across a great online VMX file (virtual machine configuration file) generator - http://dcgrendel.thewaffleiron.net/vmbuilder/. damn neat thing. so, all i needed to do was to tick the ’sound’ option, generate the file and copy/paste the generated vmx directives into my vmx file. quick huh?
yeah… the open source thing. imagine this, I’ve been using winzip for maybe 8-9 years now. not any more. i now use 7-zip (www.7-zip.org/), an open source archive tool, that (at least for me) is better than winzip… and its free. so much so, i’ve even convinced my parents to try it out and ditch windows and the ubiquitous office in favor of ubuntu and openoffice.org.
